Hello Friends.
I’ve skipped a couple weeks of Bad Theology posts. Did you notice?
It wasn’t that I wasn’t finding plenty examples of Bad Theology, only I got involved in setting up a Facebook page for this blog. But now I’m back.
Though for today we’re gonna take a little detour toward Good Theology, with a little help from Jim Croce.
He’s one of my favorite singer/songwriters and I thought I knew all his music. But recently we found this one. It’s a perfect fit for Good Friday, as well as a perfect example of Good Theology.
See for yourself…
Which Way Are You Going
Which way are you going, which side will you be on
Will you stand and watch while, all the seeds of hate are sown
Will you stand with those who say, let his will be done
One hand on the Bible
One hand on the gun
One hand on the Bible
One hand on the gun
Which way are you looking, is it hard to see
Do you say what’s wrong for him, is not wrong for me?
You walk the streets of righteousness, but you refuse to understand
You say you love the baby,
Then you crucify the man
You say you love the baby,
Then you crucify the man
Everyday, things are changing, words once honored turned to lies
People wondering, can you blame them
It’s too far to run, and too late to hide
So now you turn your back on all the things that you used to preach
Now it’s let him live in freedom, if he lives like me
Well your light has changed, confusion rains, what have you become?
All your olive branches turned to spears
When your flowers turned to guns
Your olive branches turned to spears
When your flowers turned to guns
Wow. What a great song from the 70’s that is so true today.
I fully admit, I have a soft spot for 70s music. Much of it puts me in a happy place, with bright colors and bell-bottom jeans. 🙂
I’ve never heard that song. Thanks! I love it.
You’re very welcome! It’s surprises me I never heard it, but it just makes the discovery that much sweeter.
Hope you have a wonderful Easter!
Great song, I wish you and your family a Happy Easter
Thanks, JC! Happy Easter to you as well!
Lots of resonating words with life today. Just goes to show 40 ears really hasn’t changed much sometimes.
Yeah, it can be rather daunting, can’t it? Still, I believe we have reason to hope.
You can’t beat the 70s to tell it like it is!
Ain’t that the truth?
You’re a new few face here — glad to have you join us! 🙂
One of my very favorite artists and I’ve never heard this! Thanks for sharing!
Must not have gotten much air time, I guess. Rather glad I stumbled across it. (Somehow I knew you’d like it!)
