This morning I went into my kitchen, picked up my phone and did the little swipe down thing for notifications from my news apps.
You know what I saw?
Nothing!
No alarming news story!
No offensive tweet!
No outrageous displays of egotism or questions of impropriety… nothing.
God, it felt good.
And yeah, I’m not naïve enough to think everything will be hunky dory from here on out. I know we’ll not be arranging a nation-wide group hug anytime soon.
But just for now, I’m really enjoying this new era of no T**** in the White House.
How about you?
Amen sistah!!
Right back atchya! 😀
Funny how ordinary problems seem easier to deal with now. I think I’ll put on my “End of an Error” t-shirt and see what I can solve today. cheers
Hey, that t-shirt looks pretty sharp on you!
Right now, the world is our oyster.
I think this is the link. https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=1644001035779504&set=a.124071207772502
Love it!
Me too – nice to see normal weird news and not scary weird news.
Ain’t that the truth?!
I haven’t heard that song in years. What a perfect fit for the way I’m feeling this morning!
Isn’t it? I’ve been humming it all day!
It helps that the sun is actually shining today, too. 🙂
Yes! And that knot that’s been residing in my stomach for four years has unraveled and dissolved….
I know the feeling, Donna, and I’m right there with ya!
Amen to that! It was a beautiful morning wasn’t it.
Yes, it was a gorgeous morning!
Right on! Good has won over evil! Love the song choice too 🙂
Thanks, Rhonda! The song seemed like a good fit. 😀
I completely agree Christi (and I voted for Trump). I refreshed my newsfeed way too many times yesterday, expecting more headlines than just coverage of the inauguration. It was a refreshingly slow news day otherwise (ex. absence of protests at state capitols). Very much looking forward to getting back to real headlines instead of Trump-bashing, and if Biden is to be believed, focused efforts to bridge the political divide in this country. Oh, and “Mr. Blue Sky” is hands-down my favorite ELO song. Always cheers me up and gets me dancing. Perfect signature song for your topic.
Hi Dave! I have family and friends who voted for Trump, yet even they agreed it was a refreshingly nice change of pace today. Let’s hope it lasts.
As for Blue Skies, I think it’s tied with “Hold on Tight” for my first place. Both send me to my happy place. 🙂
The power of your Presidents mystifies me. Biden threw a lot of Americans and Canadians ‘under the bus’ yesterday by cancelling the permit for the Keystone XL Pipeline. What gives him the right to cancel something that has been negotiated and agreed upon by the Canadian Government and a bill approved by the US Senate and a permit issued by the previous President?
Do Americans not realize that if they want to reduce their reliance on oil, they have to actually reduce their use? That if they stop pipelines, the oil arrives anyway, except in more dangerous and polluting ways, such as rail and ship. If they stop Canadian oil, then the oil comes from countries that aren’t as environmentally responsible nor politically sound. Trump at least understood all this stuff.
I watched the news today and there was nothing at all about that malignant, psychopathic narcissist (not here, anyway) Yes!
I think there a lot of journalists (the reputable ones) doing their happy dance. Now they can report on normal crises, not manic, ego-driven ones. 🙂
Ahhh! It is a beautiful new day. I am so relieved to see that the competent adults are back in the room. Hopefully those destructive children who trashed our great democracy will be sent to their rooms for a long long time.
Yes, and the bullies who egged them on should get grounded for a very looooong time!
It is a HUGE relief! The song is a great one to celebrate with (that line “where did we go wrong”) oh my.
Ah, so you were paying attention!
How about the later line: “But soon comes Mr. Night creepin’ over/Now his hand is on your shoulder…
All saying there may be bright days ahead, but we’ve work to do!
I’ll admit, it took me a few days to adjust to “normal” life where we didn’t wake up every morning to the country further polarizing over the latest Trump tweet. How did we get through four years of that mess?
We have a long road to travel, but at least we’ve finally started…
Frankly, I’m still adjusting to this weird sensation of “normalcy.” I had no idea how much I valued the little things… like politicians weighing their words carefully, trying to present themselves as if they gave a damn.
Yes, we’ve a long road to travel, but man it sure feels great to finally be on it.
I wish I could like this post a 1000 times! Life is good!
It is indeed! I feel like my hope has returned!
That’s great♥️♥️♥️♥️
Awaiting your return with bated breath, CJ. Love “Mr. Blue Sky,” btw (and ELO in general).
