Too Fearful for a Disney Cruise?

She was there to inventory our printers. Or as IT likes to call them, our “copy/print/scan devices.”

She wore a royal blue polo shirt and khaki pants, no doubt going for that classic geek look. But her red lipstick and fussy hairstyle betrayed her. And not that this is in any way related, but her hair was platinum blond.

One day, I shall have the nerve to dye my hair platinum blond.

“Will you be traveling again?” she asked. “I saw your pictures on Facebook last year. You took a cruise, right?”

Public Restrooms: The Bane of My Existence

Last week I used a public restroom.

Horrifying, right? But I didn’t have a choice. And since I was in Target in a decent part of town, I thought I was safe.

It Was One of Those Mondays

“Good morning,” I reply, never one to drop good manners. Especially if I can feel superior in the process.

She is one of our teachers, as well as one of our parents. Strangely, I see her most often in her parent role.

Teachers I like. Parents? Hit or miss. Mostly miss.

“Sorry. Good morning. Anyway, they dropped him. We got an email on Friday.”

They being the community college where young lad Richard is dual enrolled as a high school student. She is telling me this because I serve as the High School Dual Coordinator.

On Freedom and Fear and All That Lies Between
